NEWS: ViperExchange's Viper ACR Smashed the Record at Nürburgring September 15, 2011
BJ Motors in conjunction with ViperExchange by Tomball Dodge was honored to help return the Viper to the Nordschleife at Nürburgring in Germany - AKA, “the Ring” this past Thursday in order to defend the title once held in 2008.
In ‘08 the Dodge Viper ACR set a production car one lap record time of 7:22.1 at the Ring, a record that the Viper held through most of 2011. However, recently the Corvette ZR1 sporting new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires beat the Viper record at 7:19.6. After that, luxury sport car Lexus LF-A, with a special Nürburgring Edition, blew away the Vette with a record setting 7:14.6 that just begged for another competitor to try to beat.
Well, we heard their call! ViperExchange offered to supply two very unique cars that were willing to take on the record September 15, 2011. They were dying break the records of the Corvette ZR1, the Porsche GT2 RS, and to test the new Viper against the Lexus LFA. As loyal Viper racers, enthusiasts, dealers and passionate people, Ben Keating and Bernie Katz set out to make this task a reality. Tomball was all in from day one planning with emails, phone calls, and helping prepare the cars for pick up to head to Detroit. They set the Corvette times as a target to beat with only a glimmer of hope to attack the LFA’s insane record which they knew would be a challenge.
